Rolling Stones Dismiss Retirement Rumors

In response to a report in the Sun that their next tour would be their last, a rep for the Rolling Stones recently told Entertainment Weekly that the report is untrue. According to the Sun, an anonymous source said that the band "realize that age is creeping up on them. They want to bow out on top of their game, and not short-change their fans." However, a rep told EW that the band retiring is "not true."

AC/DC Break Tour Record

AC/DC's recent worldwide Black Ice tour has broken the record for being the second highest-grossing concert tour in history. After playing 168 shows, the band has earned nearly $441.6 million and saw roughly 4.9 million people attend. The only band that is above them when it comes to concert tours is the Rolling Stones with their 2005-2007 A Bigger Bang tour. The run earned the Stones a gross total of $558.3 million for playing 147 shows.

Sarah McLachlan Focuses On The Meaning Of Lilith Fair

Sarah McLachlan, longtime leader of the Lilith Fair concert series, held a press conference before a recent performance, where she presented a check for $13,142 to the North York Women's Shelter. At the conference, the Canadian singer/songwriter was asked about the tour's financial success and what she thinks will be in store for future Lilith Fairs. McLachlan responded: "Yes, we've had drawbacks, but I'm having an amazing time. I've tried to put the financial stuff on a shelf . . ."

John Lennon Drawing Takes Top Bid

A doodle drawn by John Lennon during one of his legendary "bed-in" protests has sold at auction for nearly $56,000. The drawing depicts the singer's face and that of his wife, Yoko Ono, and was drawn during their Montreal bed-in, which took place in May of 1969. The event took place late last week at Christie's Auction House in London. The auction also featured a guitar once used by Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols and Who memorabilia.

Beck, Snow Patrol Featured On John Martyn Tribute Album

An upcoming tribute album featuring the songs of British songwriter John Martyn will include tracks by Beck, Snow Patrol, and Devendra Banhart, among others. Martyn died of double pneumonia at the age of 60 in January 2009. The album will feature the tracks "Stormbringer" (Beck), "May You Never" (Snow Patrol)and "Sweet Little Mystery" (Devendra Banhart), among others. The album will hit stores on September 6.

KISS Hit The Road For North American Tour

Later this week KISS will kick off their Hottest Show on Earth tour, one that will take the legendary band on a 32-city run across North America. Things get underway this Friday in Cheyenne, Wyoming. "It's about the marathon," KISS rhythm guitarist and co-frontman Paul Stanley told Reuters. "It's more about who lasts the longest - if you're depressed or lose your drive because of one tour or one show, then you're in the wrong business."
